26 Die While Homeless in 2020 – Good News Rescue Mission to honor them with a Homeless Memorial Service.

When: Wednesday, February 10, 2020 at 11am

Where: Streaming online on the Mission’s Facebook Page.

What: The Good News Rescue Mission will be holding the annual Homeless Memorial Service honoring the memory of those who passed away while homeless and bringing awareness to the harsh realities of living without a home.

The ceremony is open to shelter guests, media, and will be streamed online for the general public on the Mission’s Facebook page.

Why: “Winter means long nights and harsh weather. These are timely reminders of the plight of so many of our homeless neighbors who struggle to find basic needs.” Said Pastor Dave Honey from the Mission. “This ceremony will honor all the homeless this year who have perished, and specifically 26 of our friends who are no longer with us.”

The Mission would like to remind everyone that during extreme weather, the Mission’s chapel and dining hall remain open during the day to those seeking respite from the rain, snow or cold. At night, the same facility will provide safe shelter to those with no other place to go.

“We just want to make sure no one succumbs to the elements simply because they didn’t know we were here to help,” said Honey.
