Founded in 1964 by a group of concerned Christians, the Good News Rescue Mission offers a hand up and the opportunity for New Life to thousands of men, women and children in our community.
Celebrating 50 years of service, we are gathering historical information about the Mission to share. The two photo’s above have recently come to us and reflect the original building in which the Good News Rescue Mission was founded. If you have additional photos, documents or recollections of the early history of the Mission, we invite you to share them with us.

The purpose of the Good News Rescue Mission is to bring Good News to the poor, homeless, or needy of Shasta County by:
“My vision is that the Good News Rescue Mission will partner with all of Shasta County to find solutions to our most pressing socioeconomic concerns. My prayer is that we can unite as one community focused on and heading toward the same goals. We are stronger united than we are divided and I believe Shasta County can see a positive turn around if we unite and be proactive about these issues together. I want all people to know and experience the love of God in a transforming way.“
For the past 14 years I have had the experience of allowing God to shape my heart and the character of my life through my theology and my world view. My entire life centers around three theological concepts which I believe form the very heart of God: love, community and oppression. For the past 8 years I have been asking myself, what role does my life play in social justice? Guided by this theological paradigm, I have sought to increase my worldview so I traveled to various countries in 5 different continents (North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Africa) while asking the questions, how could God use me and how is He shaping my heart to reach those who are marginalized and oppressed? My entire life’s experience is the very heart of our organization and my ability to think critically and objectively is formed by my worldview which has only come about by experiencing the majority of our world first hand and specifically how God has shaped my heart through it all.
The reason I exist is to love the unloved.
