Mission Statement

The purpose of the Good News Rescue Mission is to bring Good News to the poor, homeless, or needy of Shasta County by:

  • Sharing the love of God exemplified by the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.
  • Providing emergency subsistence services (food, shelter, and clothing).
  • Providing long term recovery services.
  • Educating and equipping the people of Shasta County to effectively minister to needy people.

Director’s Corner

cesar“Before I came on board here at the Mission, I spent many years going down to Mexico on short-term mission trips to see God work in powerful ways. People there are at the end. All they have is God. Their reliance on Him is so great that He works in their lives in daily ways. I was missing that in my own walk. But now, working with those we serve, I get to see this every day.

This principle of absolute reliance on God is the same for us as a Mission. You see, all we have is God to provide for our needs. Often we get down to the bottom of the pantry, and there’s not much left. We go to God and then He works on caring hearts. I love to see how friends like you are obedient to what He calls you to do- whether it’s sending a check or donating items that we desperately need.

Watching God’s family being obedient is a tremendous blessing! It’s hard to describe how important it is to us, knowing there are people like you listening and answering His call on your heart. This is what keeps us doing what we do! I can’t thank you enough for your example of faith in action.

Our Mission Statement begins with a goal: “To bring Good News to the poor, homeless, or needy of Shasta County.” The best news of all… the news that transforms lives… is that Jesus lived, died and was resurrected that we might have “life to the full.” With your help, this is what we will celebrate with the men, women and children who will be with us each and every day.

Thank you and may God bless you!”

What We Believe

GOOD NEWS RESCUE MISSION STATEMENT OF FAITH

1
We believe the Bible to be the only inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21)
2
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19; Like 3:22)
3
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection from the dead, in His ascension to reign at the right hand of God the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. (Matthew 1:16-25; John 1:14, 14:1-3; I Corinthians 15:3-6)
4
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. (Titus 3:5)
5
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit to convict the lost of sin, to direct the lost to salvation and to enable the saved to live a godly life. (John 14:26)
6
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people – both the saved and the lost. The saved will be raised to eternal life and the lost to eternal condemnation. (Matthew 25:41, 46; 2 Corinthians 5:1-8)
7
We believe in the spiritual unity of all true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27)
