North State winters can be especially hard for families struggling to make ends meet. A warm winter coat is something no child or adult should go without. That’s why the City of Redding’s Solid Waste Utility and Fire Department have joined forces with The Good News Rescue Mission to provide the 21st Annual Coats for Kids Donation Program, intending to collect new and gently used coats for children, then giving them to families in need.
How Can You Help?
From Monday, November 21st, through Friday, December 16th, you can donate new or like-new coats, hats, scarves, mittens, and other cold-weather items to North State kids and adults. New underwear and socks for men, women, and children in all sizes are also needed. All Items will be donated to the Good News Rescue Mission and given away on Thursday, December 23.
The Curbside Collection of donation items is available only for city of Redding residents. Wrap the donations in waterproof, plastic bags labeled “Coats for Kids,” and place them on top of your blue recycling cart. They will then be collected on your regular collection day. There also are several convenient drop-off donation locations for anyone looking to donate:
