Volunteer to be part of our outreach program.

Would you like to reach out to people in our community experiencing homelessness? We need people with a heart for the men and women living in challenging situations to join our Street Squad.

If you don’t have experience working with this population or your past efforts haven’t been met with much success, don’t worry—we’ll train you! There’s always something to learn from people who have been previously homeless themselves, and that’s who will be training you.  You will get hands-on experience and the opportunity to encourage and help others. If you stick with it long enough, even if only one person out of ten takes your offer of help, you’ll find out how rewarding this type of work truly is.

We’re looking for people who have a heart for the homeless and the following:

  • You’ll need a thick skin. This is not a job for the faint of heart, because let’s get real…not everyone who needs help, wants it—at least not at first. And the way they show their disinterest isn’t always pleasant. There’s trauma, there’s mental illness, there’s addiction, there’s mistrust.
  • You have the wisdom to discern what to say (and what not to) with the understanding that there are all sorts of reasons why people end up homeless.
  • You are able to walk short to medium distances.
